Calls for Hampshire PCC Candidate to quit.

Pressure is growing for former Tory MP and current Hampshire Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) Candidate Michael Mates to quit tonight.

It follows serious allegations raised as to why 78 year old Michael Mates never paid back any of an estimated £40,000 windfall he received from the tenancy of a flat at Dolphin Square in Central London which was publicly funded from parliamentary allowances when he was an MP.

Reporters Michael Crick from Channel 4 and Alex Forsyth from the BBC are investigating and were in contact with Mr. Mates again earlier today.

On Wednesday Prime Minister David Cameron raised eyebrows in the Commons Press Gallery when he side stepped a question from a Labour MP on the matter.

The Chairman of Portsmouth North Conservatives and former Leader of the Conservative Group on Portsmouth City Council Steve Wemyss has complained to the Conservative Party and the Deputy Leader of Gosport Council is the latest figure to call for Mr. Mates to go.

This news reaches tbg. just days after Tory PCC Candidate John Pye was forced out in Peterborough.

UPDATE: It is now reported that Mates has made £100,000 profit from the tenancy.
